18 percent body fat? 17 male 165 pound 6 feet Ive done these body fat calculations around the internet and its around 17-18 body fat. I have a lil bit of belly, what do I have to do in order to get rid of the belly and get a six pack

di12381 replied: "I think the six pack is a bit of a stretch, but if your looking to loose weight, start working out 2-3 times a week for 1/2 hour and start eating healthy. Good luck!"

PRODIGENIUS replied: "crunches, cardio"

John A replied: "To get the 6 pack work your abs with crunches, leg raises and other ab exercises that you can look up on the internet. But to see your new abs you need to lower your bodyfat. Do that with diet and cardio. I do an hour of cardio every day and it helps. Stay away from junk food and sweets. No sodas! Drink only water and go on a low carb diet. Stay away from fruit and bread. Eat mostly lean protein, such as fish and chicken. Add some salads and veggies, and you will lose weight. Good luck."

Jarred F replied: "If you want a six-pack that would entail getting down to roughly 6 to 8 percent body fat. So that would call for plenty of cardio to burn more calories than you take in, ultimately losing fat, as well as focused routines that hit only the mid-body muscles, crunches are good for upper abs, leg lifts for lower abs, side crunches for the obliques are only a few examples to hit those key areas. There are countless other types that will hit multiple groups together at different angles, as well as slight deviations in form that also lead to different effects, for example keeping your legs straight as opposed to bending your knees. Another good way for the tone and definition is to take up martial arts or boxing or something along those lines that involve alot of quick movements and help strengthen and define the abdominal section."

i want to cut weight im a 18 year old man whos 6 ft 185 with about 18 percent body fat? i want to cut weight for a mma fight i have to weight in at 156 is the highest and im 185 walk around weight i know thiago alves cuts 30 pounds now i want to cut it and then gain it all back does anyone know a good way that i can cut about 30 pounds in a week

Kroptonik replied: "hahaha 30 pounds in a week? not possible you would have had to start cutting like 3 months ago dude :P"

Is 18 percent body fat bad? I just did a thing online and I wanted to die. I mean I'm a girl so of course I have self esteem issues but that seems ridiculous. I'm 5'4" and 115 pounds and a size small. I go to the gym for two hours a day at least and run for about an hour. How is 18% possible??

Nick Chrohn replied: "Because you're huge. Try getting to 70lbs."

old lady replied: "An 18% is quite possible because you are average height and average weight and 18% is an average body fat level."

Clare McVoyant replied: "First of all, a height-to-weight computation for finding body fat percentages is just plain obsolete and inaccurate. The best way to get an accurate reading on body fat percentage is to check what your weight is while submerged in water. Secondly, women tend to have higher percentages of body fat than men due to physiological differences, such as breasts and.. er, posterior. Also, 18% is not bad at all, some people who appear extremely fit can have as high as 25% body fat."

Melissa M replied: "OKAY! DO NOT LISTEN TO THE FIRST DUDE! 115 is perfectly normal and you need fat on Your body no matter how much you like it , you cant live without a bit of it , or you'll be unhealthy . But please keep in mind that you are female and you (hopefully) have you some BOOBS and maybe and ass , and hip carry some fat , but 16% isn't that bad at all and your at a perfect body weight ... i mean if you really wanted to you could lose 5 pounds and still be healthy but that all up to you. And just a random tip muscle weights more then fat .. in case you didn't know."

what percent body fat should i be i am a 13 year old girl whos 5'5 and weighs 125 pounds, &im currently 18 percent body fat. is this normal? what is the ideal body fat percentage for someone my age and height?? crested_crush's , i think you need help. hahha. you sound anorexic...

crested_crush replied: "Thats a lot. Im almost 15, 5'7 and im 90-95lbs. I am not skinny, im actually fat. My body fat percentage is like, 9 percent and thats a lot."

timetravellingbunny replied: "For a girl your age: 17%-27% body fat is good. Your body fat percentage puts you in the 'athletic' category so you must be pretty muscular. Height is not relevant to body fat percentage."

Is 18.8 percent body fat healthy? I'm just wondering and is this site somewhat accurate? Ignore the link above I mean this one>
Darn M replied: "your getting to the overweight area, it also depends on your height and weight"

Warrior of Christ replied: "BMI is usually not correct because you could have more muscle and other determining factors. Get a skin fold test and evaluate that."

Love.Live.Laugh18 replied: "yes! that is very healthy."

funguyy replied: "definitely good bodyfat % for a girl and not all that bad for a guy. ///i did the test and it showed me to be 5% less bodyfat than my scale that measures bodyfat%. so i don't know what to think. not saying my scale is accurate. but i will just keep using it as correct because it will give me bodyfat% in relationship to what my previous and present bodyfat% is."

John replied: "For girls, 18.8% body fat is excellent and most female athletes would kill for it. Check out - I can't really say if the website you listed is accurate because I'm not sure what formula the web creator used. If you really want an accurate measure, any personal trainer or general practitioner doctor can calculate your BFP."

penguine.soup replied: "Body fat calculators that you find on websites cannot give you an accurate reading. It is better to get some body fat callipers and take skinfold measurements. Even this is not 100% accurate but far more reliable than a website. As for your question, 18.8% body fat is average for a male and lean/athletic for a female."

What is a normal percent body fat for a..? 18 year old? Because I weigh 124lbs and today found out I have 18.3% body fat is this good or bad? I'm also 5'9.5''

[USAF]~Tom replied: "15% is normal for most people, around 12% for athletes, and around 5% for wrestlers... 18.3 is definitely not bad, but if you want, setting it to 15% would be a nice goal."

Is this BMI and body fat percent okay? I am 14 and 5'6" and I weigh 140 pounds. My BMI is 22.6 and my body fat percent is 18.2. Good?

Hugh replied: "yes 18% fat is very good for a girl."

penguine.soup replied: "Average weight yet low body fat....you sound very athletic and muscular."

How much body percent fat do I have to have for my abs to really show? I'm 17 (almost 18), 5' 9" and weigh 163 lbs. I have 12% body fat. How low does my body fat percent have to be for my abs to really show? I workout six times a week. I lift weights for two hours, and do cardio for 10 minutes. I workout my abs everyday. I rest one day out of the week.

HelloMorinsky replied: "They say that you need to have LESS THAN 10% body fat to see your abs. In general, you cannot see your abs until the layer of fat over them is gone, and doing abdominal exercises can make your abdominal muscles larger and give the appearance that your stomach is bigger than it is if the layer of fat isnt gone. I would say dont even worry about ab exercises until you get in the 10.9% mark. You may need to cut sweets out, lower carb intake and increase protein consumption to really lower your body fat and increase your metabolism. And, believe it or not EATING will do most of the work. If you eat multiple small meals every 2 - 3 hours, your metabolism will triple (trust me I eat 6x a day and stay the same body type). This isnt a necessity, though. What is a necessity is you will need to do MUCH MORE CARDIO than 10 minutes. In addition, doing more than 20 - 30 minutes of weightlifting will cause your body to create a stress hormone (Cortisol) that creates body fat in your lower belly. The best option is to do less weight lifting (heavier weights/less reps if you are bodybuilding), and MUCH MORE cardio (at least 20 minutes). hope this helps"

good way to lose body fat? I'm somewhere between 16 and 18 percent body fat, and could use some adive on getting it down some. I want to cut to somewhere around 10% body fat. I'm an active weight lifter/wrestler and I usully run at least 2 miles every day to every other day, and I do at least 600 crunches a day. I'm pretty muscular and fit, I just want to have less fat on me though..

the girl ♥ replied: "strength training will help a lot!"

brie replied: "run about a mile a day, do about 50 situps (or atleast until u feel the burn), drink plenty of water, no junkfoods -blah blah blah u no that whole deal, and and when u go to the gym pick up some weights oh and eat every thing in moderation ~Best Wishes~"

Sandra Y. replied: "That's actually not too bad, and is average for men. You can easily get your body fat into the single digits if you got on a muscle building/fat burning workout routine. And, if stayed consistent for 6 weeks you will see a difference. Start by cleaning up your diet. There's more info here Then, you have to strength train, it builds muscle, which raises your metabolic rate. Which all equals fat loss. Check this page for great tips Finally, you need cardio. If you want the best results do HIIT. There's info on how here Good luck."

Bt E replied: "I would try fitnessfun. It is online base fitness company. They help you with any fitness goal you have to help you reach it. They work great because I use them to get back into shape. Try them out at fitnessfun.page.tl"

people who know about body fat percentages? okay so i am 18 year old female and i did this whole body percentage test. it says that my body is 18.8 percent fat. i have 24.1 Pounds of fat :[[ and 103.9 Pounds of lean (muscle, bone, body water) i want to loose weight, and i am wondering if i was to loose the 24.1 pounds of fat would i be able to achieve 0 percent body fat? and would 24 pounds be a good weight loss goal? (no rude comments please, i don't need any rude fat remarks, i know or i wouldn't be posting this question)

Ally H replied: "1 rule. You CANNOT achieve 0% body fat. You will die. Fat is essential for the human body. #2. For women, the rule is that 18% body fat is borderline UNDERWEIGHT. You don't need to lose ANY weight. 19% to about 24% is normal. 25% to about 30% is overweight, and 31% and above is obese. #3. Reaching the 12% body fat mark is dangerous. Cessation of a woman's period and loss of the ability to have children is just one of the many side effects from having such low body fat. You don't need to lose any weight. From what you have told us, you are almost to the point of being underweight."

Adam replied: "You are not fat for a start! :) Your body needs some fat too function otherwise you would be cold and have no energy. If you want to loose weight pick a size you want to be, and then work out how much weight you need to loose to do it"

trindion40 replied: "First of all 18.8% body fat on a female is not as bad as it sounds. Women have higher body fat percentages to support reproductive cycles and several other bodily functions. You definitely do not want to get below 10% as a women, at least not for an extended period of time. Also you can not go down to 0% body fat, you would not be living. Fat is a long term storage of energy for your body, kind of like the snack you throw in your pocket for later. Having said that a reasonable weight loss goal would not to worry about the amount of pounds but bring your body fat percentage down. You must remember as you work out you could actually gain weight but lower your body fat percentage, which what will give you that slim tone look that you are probably looking to achieve. Having said that you probably want to lose no more than 11 pounds of fat, which would take you down 116 pounds which is extremely light, unless you are very short. Good luck and I hope this helps."

Takfam replied: "You will never achieve 0% bodyfat. Male professional bodybuilders rarely get below 3-4% and they can only maintain that for a few hours during a show. 5-6% is attainable for them, but not adviseable long term. For women, the BF% including essential fats is 12–15%. Meaning you should not seek to go below that level. At 19%, you're pretty close. You could probably lose 5-10lbs if you REALLY wanted to, but I wouldn't. Complications with various body functions arise when you toe the edge like that. If you want to change your body composition, you'll have to work on building muscle. (Please don't misunderstand, when I say "building muscle" I don't mean look like a bodybuilder. Look at fitness models like for an example of women that work in the weight rooms, sleek and toned, not the big and bulky like the manly-women everyone envisions)"
